pride

Pride is one of the most wicked sins. The Father is disgusted by Pride. It’s pride that makes a person think they can rise above God and become god themselves.  The Word says that Pride comes before destruction.  The destruction of the devil, death, immortality, the hybrid Nephilim who were practicing homosexuality before the flood destroyed them all.  Then, the LORD put his bow in the sky and now some use it to taunt Him. Woe, to them who poke their fingers in the eye of GOD!

Let’s take a look at the definition of Pride:

  • noun
  • a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
  • the state or feeling of being proud.

You are dignified and superior. You don’t need God.

  • a becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one’s position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.

You want what is due to you according to your will and not God’s will. You love yourself and not God.

  • pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself:
  • something that causes a person or persons to be proud.
  • verb
  • prid·ed, prid·ing.
  • to indulge or plume (oneself) in a feeling of pride.

You don’t give credit to God. Instead, you give credit to yourself.

What The Word Says About Pride

Job 35

12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Pride is of evil men. No sin comes before God and that includes Pride. He will not hear you until you remove it from yourself.

Job 41

1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?

Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

Pride is an attribute of Leviathan, the king over the children of pride (the children of disobedience).

Psalm 10:1-3

1 Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

Pride is of The Wicked. Pride causes you to be sinful and unjust. Prideful people lift up other wicked men that The Lord finds abominable.  A prideful man doesn’t think of God.  He doesn’t give thanks to God.  He only gives thanks to himself.  He thinks he doesn’t need God.  He credits himself for everything he has accomplished and thinks even his enemies cannot touch him, because he is so great and powerful in himself. His ways grieve The Holy Spirit!

Jeremiah 13:16-17

16 Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.

Pride Grieves The Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Sin spreads through us like a disease or a mold. Where sin is not put out, there evolves more sin. Pride must be snuffed out of oneself.

Psalm 59:12 – Cursing and Lying For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

Psalm 73:6 – Violence Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

Pride brings contention, both between men and between man and God. Men will become boastful to one another and violent toward one another because of Pride. Leviathan, who is full of Pride, will cause strife (contention) between you and God.  He does this by casting doubt, making you feel not worthy, or blaming God for certain occurrences in your life.

Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

With the well advised is wisdom. When you are walking in The Holy Spirit you have the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that YHWH is the one true God and Jesus came for sinners.  You are worthy and it is not God who is to blame, but Leviathan and his evil posse.

Pride is of Satan and the wicked and who wish to come after God’s children. Only God protects us from Pride and its minions.

Psalm 31:19-21

19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man:

Psalm 36:11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

Pride brings forth destruction and downfall, but being full of God’s wisdom and being humble in spirit brings forth salvation.

Proverbs 14:3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 29:23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

And God did just that. He destroyed Pride where he found it.

  • Isaiah 16:6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: but his lies shall not be so.
  • Isaiah 28:1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
  • Jeremiah 13:9 Thus saith the Lord, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
  • Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
  • Ezekiel 30:6 Thus saith the Lord; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord God.
  • Zechariah 9:6 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
  • Zechariah 10:11 And he shall pass through the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down,
  • Zechariah 11:3 There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

We must do our best to not fall into Pride, as it’s not from The Father.

1 Timothy 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And we are to walk in The Spirit, not in the flesh. We are to sacrifice the flesh, so we can be reborn into The Spirit. We will always fall because we live in a fallen world.  None of us is without sin, none perfect, as only Jesus was perfect in the flesh.  But, we must recognize it, denounce it, pray against it, and repent when we find it in our lives.  Humble ourselves before The Lord.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the desires of the flesh.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
