Holy Words of Wisdom

Part 13 of our Holy Spirit series focuses on how the Holy Spirits gives us Holy Words of Wisdom. We believe this will be an 18-Part Series in which you’ll discover who The Holy Spirit is and what He does. Many attributes are given to The Holy Spirit throughout Scripture. He is not a force. He is a person. He is a member of the Trinity, a part of YHWH. He is referred to as a “he”. In Parts 1-12 of this series, we featured His part in creating, recreating, convicting, teaching, bringing us peace through hope, witnessing Jesus as God in the flesh, creating a clean heart, connecting the churchdwelling inside you, how He grieves, how He gives you spiritual senses, His part in our spiritual baptism, and how He bestows spiritual gifts. Now, let’s take a look at how He tells us what to say.

When we actually sit and think about how the Holy Spirit dwells inside of us, it’s an amazing concept.  Our God is so Great!  He is so great, that even a part of Himself He has shared with us and actually LIVES inside our body.  Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.  This is where the desolation will take place.  Unfortunately, our friends in some places think an evil man will sit inside a third temple, but there is no third temple in the Word of God.  He specifically said He abandoned it.  He now resides inside us.  We are the temple.

Matthew 24:15

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

2 Thessalonians 2

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

Acts 7

48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Oops!  We went down a rabbit hole, again.  Okay, back on track… what I am trying to convey is that when the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, He can give you Holy Words of Wisdom to utter.  Isn’t that amazing!  Let’s take a look at Scripture that shows us exactly where the Holy Spirit took over and gave men words of wisdom to utter when needed.  Our Lord is mighty!

One of the most famous passages demonstrating that the Holy Spirit will tell you what to say is Mark 13:11.

Mark 13:11

But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

This passage is so important for us to remember in the days ahead when we may be brought before the “judge” for persecution.  Don’t worry about what to say.  The Holy Spirit will speak for you!

This happened to Peter!

Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

Peter just starts speaking Holy Words of Wisdom to them all.  Look at what he says:

Acts 4:9-12

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Wow!  What an inspired speech!

The Holy Spirit can take over and give you utterance at any time in any language.  Just take a look at Acts, Chapter 2.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Note in Acts that no one was speaking a language that was not interpreted.  There was not an unknown language spoken.  They were all heard by others speaking in native languages from other countries/regions.  There was an interpreter, as per Scripture, for their words.

And, John the Baptist paved the way for this all, being filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb.

Luke 1:13-15

But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.

John the Baptist had a lot of things to say, didn’t he?

Let’s take a look at one more thing.  We already discussed how receiving the Holy Spirit provides you with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.  So, let’s take a quick look at Proverbs because there are words of wisdom in the verses.  Proverbs 15 is a good example of the difference between wise speech and foolish speech.  Think about those foolish who do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them and the wise who do when you read these verses.

Proverbs 15:1-9

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Remember fruits of the Spirit, such as self control – controlling your speech – bridling your tongue!  Words mean something.  They are so important.  We are told not to let any unwholesome talk come from our mouths, but only what is good for lifting people up.  We are told we murder our brothers and sisters with our speech.   Have you seen the experiments done with water before freezing?  A scientist spoke good words over water and bad words over water upon freezing.  Look at the results!  “Adult humans are 60 percent water, and our blood is 90 percent water.” per medicalnewstoday.com.  Now, look at these results and you can easily see why God commanded what he did about our speech.

words

Now, think about how your words affect others in their body!  Do you now see how you murder your brothers and sisters with your tongue?  Do you now see how important prayers are?

Proverbs 15 just read that the wise use a tongue of knowledge and that the wholesome tongue is a tree of LIFE.  It also read that perverseness therein is a BREACH IN THE SPIRIT.

I will leave you with this.

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

James 3

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
