holy spirit

During this series (what we believe will be an 18-Part Series), you’ll discover who The Holy Spirit is and what He does.  Many attributes are given to The Holy Spirit throughout Scripture.  He is not a force.  He is a person.  He is a member of the Trinity, a part of YHWH. He is referred to as a “he”. In Part 1 of this series, we are going to provide Scripture showing that The Holy Spirit creates.

The Holy Spirit Creates

The Holy Spirit was there “In The Beginning” at creation.

Genesis 1

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The First Day: Light

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

It’s so wonderful to see that the sun and moon were not yet created; however, the very first thing YHWH created was light. We could go down a long side trail on this one, but we’ll keep this post to the topic of The Holy Spirit.

We know from John that Yeshua was also there.

John 1

The Beginning

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

All aspects of YHWH were involved in creation:  The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

Born Again In The Holy Spirit - He Gives New Life and Establishes Our Birth Right

Ephesians 1

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory

It is the sealing of the Holy Spirit that guarantees our birthright and inheritance.

2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Not only are those who follow the beast marked, but YHWH marks those who follow Him as well.  Those who follow His commandments, His servants, will be sealed/marked with the promised Holy Spirit which will protect and shield them during the last days, guaranteeing their inheritance.

Galations 5

Keep in Step with the Spirit

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

The Holy Spirit creates this fruit in you!  The Spirit creates love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

This fruit ties right back into our birthright.

Romans 6

20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The gift of God that produces this fruit is The Holy Spirit

Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Fear of The Lord leads to repentance.  When you fear The Lord, repent, and accept Jesus Christ as your savior, believing in the gospel, you will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, The Holy Spirit.  You will then be made a new creation in Christ.

Titus 3

3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

There is a regeneration taking place here! The Holy Ghost has made things new inside you.  You are newly born into a new living hope to a new inheritance because of the resurrection of Yeshua.  One day you will again, as co-heirs with Yeshua, be in the presence of Our Father.  That hope is living and sitting at the right hand of God.

It is our faith in that living hope that brings us to eternal life with Our Father.  And, Our Father guards us to it.

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

I believe this verse is misquoted a lot.  What does this mean?  To me, this means that God is going to guard your faith and get you home to New Jerusalem with Him.  This faith comes from the gift of God.  What is the gift of God.  Yes! We just read that it is The Holy Spirit.  He is the gift of God.  It is not your own doing.  By The Father’s mercy, you have been guided and guarded to your inheritance by His Spirit, not your own doing, so no one can boast.  None of you did this on your own.  Not one.  Not one is good, not one, remember?  Let’s take a quick look at Peter to let this sink in.

1 Peter

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Our faith is kept by the power of God, which brings us to salvation.  We have no faith.  No one can boast they have more than anyone else.  Yeshua said if we even had the faith of a grain of mustard seed we could move mountains.  I don’t know about you, but the last time I checked, I couldn’t move a hill.

That’s why it was said of every dream that was ever interpreted, every miracle ever performed, it was not their own doing, but the power of God that made these things happen.  Jesus said without Him we can do nothing.  All of Acts is based upon the power of The Holy Spirit coming upon believers and the power of the Kingdom of God manifesting through miracles.

It’s during times when we feel ashamed, not worthy, blind, like such a wretched person and failure, when our hearts grow weary and feel so tired, that God says in our hearts to not worry.  The power of His Kingdom is in you.  It is a righteous man that falleth down and riseth up again (Proverbs 24:16). Keep Rising Back Up!  He has already proclaimed, foretold, and promised, through the resurrection of His son Jesus Christ that He will get us Home to our inheritance.

2 Timothy 4

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Praise Be To God!  We find rest in The Lord.  We find hope in The Lord.  This is why we can endure the tribulations of this world and keep moving forward in worship and praise to Our Father.

Romans 8

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Have living hope, beloved, as He will get you Home.

Romans 8

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You are a new creation.  Walk in The Spirit with living hope.

2 Corinthians 5

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

We live out from the empty tomb, the living hope.  We withstand trials with praise and joy.  For The Holy Spirit, the gift of God, has saved us through faith by the abundant mercy of Our Father and the resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ.  We are to walk in The Spirit, knowing that we belong to the spiritual Kingdom.  As a royal priesthood we are to offer up spiritual sacrifices (abstaining from passions of the flesh) acceptable to YHWH.  We stand firm in the midst of an evil world guarded by Our Father to our inheritance. Through our faith we enter into this inheritance and our duties to the Kingdom.

We have a mission set and we are not to be slothful and to squander our inheritance.  Remember the Parable of the Talents?  How does God feel about being Lukewarm?  Labor in the field, for the Lord needs laborers.  We labor because of our faith and our love.  Faith produces works.  Works to stand for something good.  Works to stand against giants, people and issues in opposition to our Kingdom.  Works to feed the poor, visit those in prison, visit the sick, clothe the naked, help the orphans and the widows – all the works Jesus commanded us to do.  Works to preach the gospel to all creatures.  Faith without works is dead.

The battle is real.  The battle is spiritual.  The strategy of the enemy is to get you to doubt the faith you have that YHWH is who He says He is…  To get you to doubt that you have a living hope…  To get you to doubt the promises and the inheritance you have waiting for you…  especially during our trials and tribulations.  Then, you aren’t working.  Our Father is always working!  When works are dead, there are no laborers in the field.  Let The Holy Spirit lead you into all things.
