Holy Bible

How far have we fallen away from what The Word says? As Christians, we are held to a higher standard. We are light in the darkness. We are a peculiar people, a royal priesthood. We are not to be reading horoscopes. We are not to be having our future read in any way, shape, or form. Use discernment. You are not to worship any “god”. You are to worship GOD alone. There is no such thing as a Christian Witch. That’s ridiculous. They are complete opposites. We are NOT to mingle with the heathen and learn their ways. Mixing our ways with “their ways” is forbidden by The Lord. We need to open our Bibles and actually read what it says. Get Back to Basics.

I saw something on Facebook that sparked a fire in me.  I happened to be on Facebook, which I removed my personal profile from; however, I manage the Terry With The Word Facebook page and belong to all of our local area groups.  In our local Buy, Sell, Trade Group on Facebook – of all places – there was a horoscope that came across my feed.  The post read, “Taurus Woman vs Scorpio Man”.  I thought, “That is an odd post to have in a buy, sell, trade group.”  For one, the person is either spamming the group or two, this post is just going to get deleted because it was accidentally posted.

Out of curiosity, I clicked on the profile photo of the person who posted this horoscope post.  To my surprise, the profile was of a woman and her profile description read, “Church Lady at _________ Methodist Church”.   I thought, “Well, that’s even odder.”  It must have been The Spirit that led me to click on the profile to see that this person considers themselves to be a Christian. A local Christian lady, who belongs to one of the local churches, is publicly posting horoscope posts in our local, buy, sell, trade group.   Christians shouldn’t be doing this in secret or in public.  I didn’t have words.  Scripture tells us we are not to be doing these things.

Deuteronomy 18:10-14

10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.

14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

Leviticus 19:31Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 4:19 And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.

1 Timothy 4:1 – Some Will Depart from the Faith – Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons

That is exactly what this is. Reading horoscopes is a practice taught by the fallen ones to humanity – the teachings of demons.

This got me thinking how much we really need to get our heads back in our Bibles and get back to basics.  What are we doing?  And, I’m not just out here pointing fingers.  I have my own beams in my own eye.  We all do.  We all fall short of the glory of God.  But, some of these forbidden practices,  we may need a daily reminder of –  like reading daily horoscopes.  We need to quit trying to figure out what is coming next in our lives by reading the horoscope section in the local newspaper.  Stop playing these little games on Facebook, such as “Play to figure out what spiritual animal you are.”

This reminded me of something my mom had said to me about Praying to St. Anthony.  My mom had lost something and a Catholic friend of hers told her to pray to St. Anthony and he would help her find it.  I said, “Wait a minute, Mom.  Back up!  What do you mean pray to St. Anthony?”  She said her friend had given her a little prayer to pray to St. Anthony.  She was to pray (read it) and St. Anthony would help her find her lost item.  I said, “Back up a minute, Mom.  Noooooo.  Who do we pray to?” She said, “God.”  And I said, “God is so weak in the things He can do for us when we ask them in Jesus’ name that we need to ask a Saint? A host of heaven?  A spirit that may or may not be the spirit it says it is?  No. I AM The Lord Your God.  You shall have no other gods besides me.  Nowhere in Scripture does it say to pray to anyone besides Our Father in Heaven.”

I got to looking into this. I do have to admit that I was raised Catholic, but then fell away.  You hear from a lot of people who have fallen away that they came out of the Catholic religion.  It’s sad because we have to come back around and find our faith again, back to The Lord.  I started digging and found prayers to St. Anthony to help you find lost items, St. Christopher for travels, St. Anne for special favor, even a prayer for fertility.  How pagan can you get, for goodness sake?!  I didn’t realize, even coming out of the Catholic religion as a child, how many Saints there are prayers to – my goodness.  And, there are obviously prayers to Mary as well.  What an abomination.  The Word specifically tells us NOT to do this!

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

There is no saint, no other spirit, no other person to mediate between you and The Father other than Jesus Christ, God in the Flesh.

Philippians 4:6  do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

This doesn’t say let your requests be made known to Mary, or Saint Anne, or Saint Christopher, or Saint Anthony, or any other saint.  It says, “Let your requests be made known to God.”

Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.”

If you do not understand that prayer is worship, you have a really big problem.  When you pray to something or someone, you are worshiping it/him/her.  Worship God having no other gods besides Him.  Worship God.

Just to reiterate and put some emphasis on Mary… And, I don’t want to beat this topic up too much because there is a lot of that going around already… but, we just read in Revelation 19:10 “Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.”

Well, in Luke 1:38 when the angel comes to Mary, Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”  And the angel departed from her.  Mary said, “I am a servant of the Lord” and we just read in Revelation 19:10 regarding the angel in heaven who is a servant of the Lord to not to fall down at his feet and worship him (or pray to him because prayer is a form of worship).  We are to worship God alone.  Mary is a fellow servant with us who holds the testimony of Jesus, per her own words.  Worship God.

John 16:23-24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

We are to ask The Father in the name of Jesus Christ.  It’s black and white.  There is no gray area.

The other issue we need to discuss is Christian Witches.  What is this?  If you are a “Christian witch” or “Christian wiccan”, male or female, I have something to tell you.  There is no such thing.  No such thing.  They are two complete opposite things.  Christians are specifically told by The Lord not to mix and learn the ways of the heathen.  Witches are heathen.  It is stated in The Word that witches will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.  There is no mixing.  If you want to put the words “Christian” and “witch” together or “Christian” and “Wicca” together, you are mixing.  That cannot happen.  There is no such thing as a “Christian Witch”.  You can call yourself that until the cows come home.  Doesn’t matter.  There is no such thing.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 – Abominable Practices –  When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

This cannot be any clearer.

Exodus 22:18 You shall not permit a sorceress to live.

It doesn’t sound like they are inheriting everlasting life with Our Father.

Galatians 5:19-21Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Samuel 15:23For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and presumption is as iniquity and idolatry.  Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has also rejected you from being king.

Again, this cannot be any clearer in The Word.  Witchcraft is a sin.

If you are mixing Christianity and Witchcraft, if you are reading horoscopes, if you are wishing upon a star, if you are praying to any saints, you need to get back to basics.  Sit down.  Open your Bible to Genesis 1:1.  Don’t just read to read, but read with interpretation and understanding.  Pray before you begin to read Scripture.  Pray for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to be able to interpret what you are reading.  Have discernment, knowing what is good and what is wrong according to the will of YHWH.
