The Truth Will Set You Free

John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Jesus is speaking to believers in this verse, to the Jews who believed on him. He tells them IF they continue in His Word, then they are His disciples. IF, the continue in His Word.

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Remember, that Jesus is God in the flesh, He is The Word. Remaining in Jesus makes you a disciple of Jesus, a follower of Jesus. When you do this, you will know the Truth. Jesus is The Truth. When you walk with Him, you will Know Him. There is no other way to KNOW Him, intimately, than to remain IN Him. Knowing someone is often used to describe intimacy in Scripture.

Genesis 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth:

When you know The Truth, having an intimate relationship with Jesus, The Truth/Jesus will make you free.

Have you ever heard the saying, “The Truth Shall Set You Free?”

This is where it comes from – from The Word of God. Jesus is the one who sets us free.
Free from Death (yes, that’s a Capital D, and it is an entity), as Jesus paid the wages for our sins and has now redeemed us back to the Father. There was no way to walk again with our Father in Heaven, like in Eden, before Jesus’s sacrifice. Our sin had separated us from a Holy God. Jesus is The Way. Jesus is the gate to walk through to freedom, back to our Father.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Free from the bondage of sin which weighs us down and again keeps us separated from our Holy Father. Our enemy will stop at nothing to lie, steal, kill, and destroy us in order to keep us from The Truth. It takes wisdom, discernment, the Armor of God, and knowing Jesus to defeat the enemy – his doubting lies, his fiery darts, his spirit of heaviness…

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Free from the heavy yokes placed upon us. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. This is in contrast to the heavy yokes placed upon us by the enemy which Isaiah 58 talks about in regards to fasting and praying to break them. Remember when Jesus said of demons that some only come out by prayer and fasting?

Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Isaiah 58:6 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Free from familiar and generational spirits preying upon us. We need only know our Lord Jesus and pray in His name to send every spirit running for the hills!

Luke 9:1-2 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

We have authority in His Name! To heal the sick, To cast out demons, to break every chain by the Power of His Holy Spirit!

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Glory to God that we are Free, Free, Free! Praise the LORD!! The Truth has set us Free!

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
